AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University head baseball coach, Bryan McLain, recently announced that Ken Jarrett will be joining his staff as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 academic year.
Jarrett comes to GSW from East Central University in Ada, Okla., where he served as a graduate assistant the past two seasons. At East Central he worked with outfielders and base runners, assisted hitters, and coordinated team travel.
“I am excited to have Ken join our staff this upcoming year,” McLain said. “He brings quality experience from his days as a collegiate player as well as his time as an assistant coach at the collegiate level.”
Jarrett joined the ECU staff after spending one season as an assistant coach at Ohio Dominican University.
While at Ohio Dominican, he worked with the outfielders and base runners, assisted hitters and was involved with recruiting. Jarrett was responsible for boosting the stolen base production for ODU from 37 in 2013 to 72 in 2014.
Jarrett was also an assistant coach for four years (2010-14) with the Midwest Outlaws, a 17-and-under travel team in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also spent the summer of 2014 as an assistant coach for the Myrtle Beach Barracudas of the collegiate Beach League.
Jarrett spent the summer of 2015 as an assistant coach for the Derby Twins of the Jayhawk League and has returned this summer to take over as the head coach.
The Mason, Ohio, native played his collegiate ball at Indiana Tech University for four seasons. He helped the Warriors to three Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament championships, a 2012 WHAC regular-season title, and four NAIA National Tournament appearances. He was also was a two-time Daktronics Academic All-America selection, as well as a two-time WHAC All-Academic pick.
Jarrett earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana Tech in May 2013 and a master’s degree in sports administration from ECU this spring.
