Fort Valley, GA – The Georgia Southwestern State University Men’s Tennis Team shut out Fort Valley State 9-0 on Sunday, March 18, at Fort Valley State.

It was total domination on the courts by the Hurricanes. Alex Canovas Ferrando, the Hurricanes’ number one singles player, defeated FVSU’s Micaiah Dawson in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Steven Blythe shut out Christian Boyd in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Beau Milwood blanked Fuemci Simon 6-0, 6-0. Jonathan Martin of GSW defeated Ryan Thurman 6-0, 6-0, and in the final singles match, the Hurricanes’ Justin Ralston defeated Darius Scott 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, the GSW team of Alex Canovas Fwerrando and Steven Blythe defeated Micaiah Dawson and Christian Boyd 8-1. Jonathan Martin and Nacho Garcia de Sola shut out the FVSU duo of Fuemci Simon and Jocquez Chaney 8-0, and the GSW team of Beau Millwood and Luke Eafano defeated Ryan Thurman and Jaylon McMillan 8-0.

This was a refreshing victory for the Hurricanes, having lost their last Peach Belt Conference matches to Columbus State on Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4. They were shut out in both those matches 9-0.

The Hurricanes step back into conference play when they travel to St. Augustine, Florida to take on Flagler College on Saturday, March 24, at 10 a.m. The Hurricanes are currently 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the PBC.
