Southland Academy Lower School hosted STEAM Day on March 1. Students in grades K3-fifth participated in activities related to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Teachers planned the activities, and students had lots of fun while learning. The younger students enjoyed the activities in their classrooms. They learned about music especially the drums; they also learned about making buildings and towers. They really liked making their own snow. The young Raiders made graphs, as well as baking soda eggs which they watched ‘hatch’ through a chemical reaction. The second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders rotated through five different activities. The students made floatation devices, mini lava bottles, coffee filter art, and plastic.
