Rynders named chair of key committee

ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named state Rep. Ed Rynders (R-Albany) as the chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee. Rynders will also serve as the secretary of the Health & Human Services, Appropriations, and Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committees, as well as ex-officio of the Ways and Means Committee. In addition, Rynders is a member of the Intragovernmental Coordination and Transportation committees.

“I appreciate the confidence Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments has shown in me,” said Rynders. “I look forward to helping make Georgia even stronger through good public policy.”

The House Governmental Affairs Committee oversees legislation concerning the operations and management of state, county, and municipal government. It also has jurisdiction over state election law.

Rynders represents the citizens of District 152, which includes all of Lee and Worth counties, and a portion of Sumter County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and is currently the chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, secretary of the Health & Human Services, Appropriations, and Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committees, as well as ex-officio of the Ways and Means Committee.
