Cornhole Tournament raises funds for Family Violence Council

The Southwestern Judicial Circuit Family Violence Council (FVC) hosted a cornhole tournament fundraiser on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University April 9. Eight teams, representing local businesses, participated in the double-elimination tournament. All proceeds from the event go to support the mission of the FVC which receives grant funding to provide services to clients and victims and uses money raised through fundraisers, like the cornhole tournament, to supplement funds for operational expenses.

Tami Peavey-Owen, executive director and legal advocate for the FVC, ‘We were very pleased with the attendance and enthusiasm at our first Cornhole Tournament and would like to make this an annual fundraiser. We congratulate this year’s winners, the team from Sweet Georgia Baking Company, and the runners-up, the team sponsored by The Office of the District Attorney. We are grateful to our volunteer officiants Drew Rico, Vinay Patel, Josh Worth, Austin Law, Beau Norton, and Dylan McLeroy, members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity at GSW, who kept the matches civil and ensured that all calculations were accurate.’

The Southwestern Judicial Circuit FVC is a non-profit serving Lee, Macon, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, and Webster counties.
