• Firefighters conducted smoke detector detail on Ridge Street.
• Firefighters responded to Lawson Drive and Leila Way to remove a tree blocking the roadway.
• Firefighters stood by at Americus-Sumter County High School South Campus, 805 Harrold Ave., for Special Olympics.
• Firefighters responded to a report of lines down on Douglas Drive where they found that a semi had driven into phone and cable lines and pulled them from a house.
• Firefighters responded to North Jackson Street to a report of lines down.
• Firefighters responded to a report of lines down at East Lester and Elliot streets.
• Firefighters responded to McCoy Street to a possible structure fire. They found a limb had fallen onto the electrical service line and broken one of the lines. No fire was found.
• Firefighters responded to Wildwood Circle to remove tree debris from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to lines down on Hancock Drive.
• Firefighters responded to an arcing transformer at Fetner and Hudson streets. They found a dead squirrel on the ground.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on 17th Green where they found no smoke or fire but the occupant had extinguished a cooking fire.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Mayo Street and Oglethorpe Avenue.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Strife Street caused by cooking.
• Firefighters responded to North Hampton Street to a power pole on fire.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Mayo and East Forsyth streets.

• Cassius T. Bess, 47, of 105 Knollwood Drive, No. 3-D, Americus is charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and was jailed.
• Alexus M. Coleman, 21, of 156 Jenkins Road, Americus is charged with contempt of court, and was jailed.
• Travis Cook, 27, of 114 Price St., Americus is charged with driving while declared an habitual violator, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of law enforcement officer, and was jailed.

B-23, Americus is charged with possession of drug-related objects, no proof of insurance, failure to yield after stopping at stop sign, knowingly driving motor vehicle on suspended, canceled or revoked registration and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and was jailed.
