• Firefighters responded to 43 calls for medical assistance.

• Firefighters responded to Habitat for Humanity, 322 W. Lamar St. shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday to a bomb scare. An anonymous letter had been received in the mail which said there was a bomb in the building. Americus Police were also on scene while a search was conducted by the maintenance crew. No hazards were found.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Lee Street.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Tripp and Forsyth streets.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Sumter County Primary School, 430 Bumphead Road where they found an alarm had been pulled. There was no fire.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Mayo Street. No hazards were founds.

• Firefighters responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on West Church Street.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Diary Queen, 1321 E. Lamar Street. There was no fire.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hancock Drive. There was no fire.

• Rhunette M. Burnam, 48, of Montezuma is charged with engaging in, promotion, encouraging, aiding or abetting a fight.

• Rodney T. Burnam, 50, of Rocky Mount, N.C., is charged with terroristic threats, and was jailed.

• Amy Deriso, 42, of 903 Ridge St., Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.

• Essence O. Durham, 18, of 603 Eastview Circle, Americus is charged with theft by shoplifting.

• Kevin T. Hayes, 29, of 346 Academy St., Americus is charged with noncompliance.

• Paula R. Johnson, 39, of 702-B Davenport St., Americus is charged with assault-battery.

• Brandon D. Thompson, 7, of 151 Fox Stephens Road, Lot M, Americus is charged with no proof of insurance, driving while license is suspended or revoked (second offense) and expired tag or registration.

• Clyde F. Wilson Jr., 22, of 730 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., C-5, Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.

• Steven M. Wilson, 31, of Cuthbert was arrested in an outstanding warrant and is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and was released to Randolph County.

• Gary N. Turner, 23, of 818 Old Andersonville Road, Americus is charged with failure to maintain lane and DUI, and was released on bond.

• Juan J. Gomez, 30, of 125-C Moon St., Plains is charged with knowingly driving motor vehicle on suspended, canceled or revoked registration, failure to maintain insurance and driving while unlicensed, and was jailed.

• Donald P. Tanner, 42, of 567 Carter Fish Pond Road, Plains is charged with reckless conduct, and was released on bond.

• Firefighters responded to seven calls for medical assistance.

• Firefighters responded several weather-related incidents where trees and/or limbs were down on Pecan Road, Leslie-Lamar Road near the Leslie City limits, Buck Nelson Road, Logan Store Road, Sam Rogers Road at Vanessa Lane, Ga. Highway 377 near Bowen Road, Pryor Cobb Road, Ga. Highway 49 South, Ga. Highway 49 and Forest, Arch Helms Road near Old Dawson Road, DeSoto Seed Farm Road near Ferguson Road, North Spring Creek Road, Young’s Mill Road and Ga. Highway 30.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at South Ga. Tech Parkway and Southerfield Road.

• John S. McMillan, 47, of Leesburg is charged with no insurance, operation of vehicle without properly transferred tag and driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was jailed.
