AMERICUS – Last year, the Americus Sumter County Arts Council (ASCAC) gave a generous grant of $500.00 to the Rylander Theatre/Friends of the Rylander Theatre, in an effort to continue the tradition of quality children’s theatre in Americus. This year, the ASCAC continued their commitment to the arts in theatre with another donation.
With the help of the ASCAC, the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will be returning to the Rylander stage this year, and over 40 children – both local and from all over the United States – will have the opportunity to participate in the week of theatre.
Bobby Ellis, vice president of the ASCAC, told the Times-Recorder “Our children are the future and it’s important that they have a balanced and fulfilling education which includes the arts. The Americus Sumter County Arts Council is proud to be a part of this once again this year.”
As 2015 rolls on to bring MCT’s Little Red Truck back again, the group will be staging a production of Red Riding Hood.
Dates for the 2015 residency are scheduled for June 22-27.
Children can be registered for the event by calling or visiting the Rylander Theatre Box Office. The cost is $10.00 per child for the entire week. The registration period begins May 5 and ends June 19.
“As slots for this great experience can become limited very quickly, make sure to sign your child/children up early.”, Ellis said before continuing “Please get involved with the arts locally. Join us in supporting this annual event that enriches the lives of our local kids.”
