‘Canes golfers named All American Scholars by GCAA

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern men’s golfers Hayes Dupree, Chris Low, and Anders Olsson have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
To be eligible for All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Dupree earned Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll bronze scholar status in June after playing in all 30 rounds for the Hurricanes this season. A junior from Mohave Valley, Ariz., he was third on the team with a 75.00 stroke average and one top-10 finish in his 11 tournaments.
Low also played in all 30 rounds and 11 tournaments for the Hurricanes and was second on the team and 13th in the PBC with a 73.47 stroke average. From North Berwick, Scotland, he finished his playing career as a PBC Presidential Honor Roll silver scholar. Named second team All-Conference, he finished in a tie for first at the North Georgia Fall Invitational, one of his five top-10 finishes on the year.
Olsson was named a gold scholar on the Presidential Honor Roll and to the men’s golf All-Academic team. A junior from Smyrna, Ga., he played in all 11 tournaments for the Hurricanes with a 75.70 stroke average. He was part of a team that finished ninth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals and was ranked No. 17 in the nation.
