A Tribute to Ga.’s former POWs of the Vietnam War

ATLANTA — The State of Georgia, an official Defense Department Commemorative Partner, continues to observe the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War.
Commissioner Mike Roby and the State Veterans Service Board hostd A Tribute to Georgia’s 21 Former Prisoners of the Vietnam War, in the North Wing of State Capitol Building at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Featured speakers include Anne and Joy Purcell, wife and daughter of the late Army Colo. (retired) Ben Purcell (held prisoner for 5 1/2 years) and Army Maj. Gen. (retired) James T. Jackson, firector of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration.
The program will also include Missing Man Table Honors, a Roll Call of Georgia’s former prisoners of the Vietnam War, music suited to the ceremony’s theme, and the traditional group photo with VIP attendees on the North Wing staircase.
