APD investigating two overnight robberies in Americus

AMERICUS — Americus Police are investigating two incidents that occurred overnight Wednesday.
According to a press release from Interim Chief Herman Lamar, an armed suspect entered Mike’s Party center at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue sweater-type shirt and had his face and head covered with what appeared to be a white t-shirt, according to the release. He left the area running north.
At 3:28 a.m. Thursday, an armed man entered Flash Foods at 1533 S. Lee St. Police describe the suspect has a black male in his late teens or early 20s, less than 6’ tall with a slender build. He was wearing gray jeans, a gray hoodie and red plastic face mask.
According to police, the suspect took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and left the store heading north on foot.
