COBB — A service to honor and remember the life of Calvin Newell Horne Jr. of Cobb was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015,  at New Covenant Church Assembly of God. The Rev. Rodney Chappell officiated and words of remembrance were given by Maria Bowdoin, Glenda Williams and Joel Williams. Dee Chappell, pianist, accompanied the Praise Team as they sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” “I Cannot Find The Way Alone” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus.  The family received friends prior to the service at 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Horne, 69, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Dougherty County. He was born in Dougherty County and was the son of the late Calvin Newell Horne Sr. and Connie Helen Cheney Horne.
Mr. Horne is survived by his loving family, a sister, Diane Bowdoin of Cobb; a niece, Maria Bowdoin of Cobb; three aunts; and numerous cousins who lived all over south Georgia and living all the way to New Mexico.
