AMERICUS — Representatives of the South Georgia Technical College Student Government Association (SGA) presented South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) President Emeritus Sparky Reeves with a resolution recognizing his 42 years of “faithful and enthusiastic service” to the college as an instructor, vocational supervisor, evening coordinator, vice president and president. The presentation was made at the college’s senior staff meeting in the John M. Pope Center on the Americus campus recently.
Ryshanna Brown, Student Government Association (SGA) president; Ashley Rodgers, SGA vice president and SkillsUSA Georgia Post-Secondary State president; and Markell Stone, SGTC criminal justice [rogram representative made the presentation along with SGTC SGA Advisor Paul Farr and Cynthia Carter, SGTC director of Career Services.
“This presentation is as precious to me as anything I have received, because it is from the students,” said SGTC’s Reeves. “I am truly honored by this gesture because everything that we do at South Georgia Tech is focused on helping students succeed. Thank you so much.”
The resolution was presented on behalf of the student body — past, present and future — to unanimously and wholeheartedly express love and appreciation to Reeves for his dedication to technical college education and for “Making Every Day Special” for the thousands of students who have chosen SGTC to help achieve their dreams.
Reeves was commended for his 11 years of leadership as president and his commitment to students through the expansion of educational programs; improved facilities and campus beautification; support of clubs, organizations, and athletics; for providing free textbooks to students; for increasing the value of education through SACSCOC accreditation; and for growing the SGTC Foundation in order to offer more scholarships to deserving students.
