SCMS cheerleaders take top three spots at Deep South Competition

CORDELE – Sumter County Middle School’s (SCMS) Competition Cheerleading Team, composed of students from Sumter County Intermediate School (SCIS) and SCMS, clinched the third place spot in their first appearance in the Deep South Cheerleading Competition, held in Crisp County on Oct. 26.
In the Deep South Individual Jump Off Competition, the Panthers claimed the first, second and third place honors among a field of ten individuals participating.
The Individual jumpers were Madison Smith (6th grade SCIS), Tatum Baker (6th grade SCIS), and Ashanti Clark (7th grade SCMS).
Baker was the overall winner of the Deep South Individual Jump Off Competition.
The team is coached by Stacy Favors, Principal at SCMS, Sharon Marcus, Principal at SCIS, LaShaunda Thomas, and Yolanda Coley. Jessica Woodard is the team’s routine choreographer.
