Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 22 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to traffic accidents on South Lee Street, South Lee at East Lamar streets, at Mayo Street and Southerfield Road, on West Lamar Street, on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at North Jackson and Patterson streets, and at East Jefferson and Patterson streets.
• Firefighters responded to a report of power lines in the roadway at Wildwood Circle and Cornelia Drive.
• Firefighters stood by for a bonfire at Georgia Southwestern State University.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a gas leak on Tom Hall Circle. The occupant told them they smelled a natural gas odor, but the gas meter didn’t register anything.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Elm Avenue. There was no fire but a low battery on the alarm system.
• Firefighters responded to Belinda Circle to assist EMS in lifting someone.
• Firefighters responded to East Jefferson Street to a report of illegal burning. They found leaves smoking in the backyard and extinguished it.
• Firefighters responded to Ga. Highway 27 East to an alarm which turned out to be malfunctioning.
• Firefighters responded to an illegal burn on Adderton Street. The City fire marshal advised those involved in the no-burn policy.
• Firefighters responded to Fairfield Avenue to a report of a gas odor. Gas detector showed no hazards.

Arrests
• Gregory L. Arnett, 47, of Shellman is charged with disorderly conduct, and was released on summons to appear in court.
• Brittany N. Cooper, 23, of 78-A Barbara Battle Way, Americus is charged with obstruction of law enforcement officer, and was jailed.
• Jacques D. Dice of 50-A Reddick Drive is charged with following too closely.
• Trevor S. Hall Sr., 42, of 107 Sun Valley Drive, No. 8, Americus is charged with criminal trespass (Family Violence Act) and obstruction of law enforcement officer, and was jailed.
• Jason J. Harold, 18, of Marietta is charged with DUI, failure to have license on person, open container, underage consumption and driving wrong way on a one-way street, and was jailed.
• Gerald D. Harris, 21, of 738 Tom Gailey Plaza, Americus is charged with robbery and aggravated assault, and was jailed.
• Michael Jackson, 33, of 303 E. Glessner St., Americus is charged with discharging firearm in the city limits.
• A juvenile was charged with unruliness on Peachtree Circle.
• Todd C. Kitchens, 47, of 307 Reese St., Americus is charged with no proof of insurance.
• Brandon D. Napper, 26, of 1102 Oglethorpe Ave., Americus is charged with disorderly conduct and reckless and dangerous use of dangerous weapons.
• Gilberto Perez-Gomez, 27, of 728 Hooks Mill Road, Americus is charged with driving while unlicensed (second offense).
• Ciano D. Perkins, 34, of 312 Varsity Drive, Americus is charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and felony theft by taking, and was jailed.
• Chacley B. Prince, 23, of 406 Sharon Drive, Americus is charged with battery and criminal trespass, and was jailed.
• Joseph L. Tuggle, 27, of 112 Horseshoe Circle, Americus is charged with maintaining a disorderly house.
• John D. Walton, 33, of 184 Young’s Mill Road, Americus is charged with possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass and violation of child support order, and was jailed.

• Firefighters responded to a grass fire on Holman Road, Leslie.
• Firefighters responded to a an ultra-light aircraft crash on Neil Hodges Road.
• Firefighters assisted with the fall festival at the DeSoto Community Center.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Georgia Tech Parkway.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Middle River Road.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on McMath Mill Road where they found a fire in the oven.
• Firefighters responded to U.S. Highway 280 East to assist with a tree that had fallen on a house.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hospital Street in Plains.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on Carter Street. They found a shorted out ceiling fan.

• Cynthia E. Attaway, 39, of Lilburn is charged with head light requirements and DUI, and was released on bond.
• Allan T. Barthell, 31, of 106 Sun Valley Drive, Americus is charged with criminal trespass, simple battery and probation violation, and was released on bond.
• Lakeisha M. Bridges, 25, of 155 Stonewall Drive, Americus is charged with battery, and was jailed.
• Aquinas D. Cannon, 33, of Albany is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.
• Sharon D. Chambers, 51, of Lumpkin is charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, and was jailed.
• Charles Coons, 51, of 604-A Hawkins St., Americus is charged with felony failure to appear for finger printable offense, and was jailed.
