The Sumter County Fire and Rescue has taken delivery of three of the four new fire engines (just like the one shown) this past week. The fourth engine will be delivered in approximately one month. The new engines were manufactured by Pierce Mfg. in Appleton, Wisc. This is the last of the new fire apparatus that will be delivered to Sumter County that was purchased under an approved apparatus replacement program that started over two years ago. Of the four engines, one each will be placed in the following stations, the Rucker Street station, the City of Plains station, the Recreation Department station on U.S. Highway 19 South and the Lake Blackshear station.
