Brooks hired as High School Initiative specialist at SGTC

AMERICUS — Beth Brooks of Americus has been named High School Initiative Specialist at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), announced SGTC Acting President Janice Davis recently. She will report to SGTC High School Coordinator Vickie Austin and Vice President of Academic Affairs John Watford, Ed.D.
As High School Initiative specialist, Brooks will assist in recruitment efforts of high school students in South Georgia Tech’s six county service delivery area, which includes Sumter, Crisp, Schley, Marion, Macon, and Webster counties. She will serve as a liaison between SGTC and each secondary school in facilitating the needs of middle and high school students. She will be responsible for recruitment and testing of these students, as well as speaking with parents about admissions procedures, financial aid information, and other information about applying to SGTC.
Brooks previously served as pharmacy inventory specialist at CVS in Americus, where she had also worked in various roles as shift supervisor, customer service representative, and pharmacy technician since 2009. She earned her bachelor of science in psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University, with a minor in sociology. She has been involved in volunteer work for various organizations, including Race for the Cure, Boys and Girls Club, Relay for Life, ALS Foundation, and Special Olympics.
