ATLANTA — Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens announced that in 2015 his office mediated thousands of claims disputes between Georgians and insurance companies, resulting in more than $7 million in claim settlements favorable to the consumer.
“We are here to help,” said Hudgens. “I am proud of the work my staff is doing and I encourage Georgians to contact my office with their insurance problems.”
Last year Insurance Department staff helped 11,240 consumers and businesses retrieve approximately $7,034,418.06 from insurance companies in settlement payments. Auto liability was the coverage that produced the most complaint activity followed by those related to individual and group health insurance, life insurance and homeowner coverages.
Consumers with complaints or questions about their insurance claim or policy provisions can reach the Insurance Department at 1-800-656-2298 or file a complaint at www.oci.ga.gov.
