MACON — Mr. Julian Keith Moncus, age 55, passed away on Monday morning, April 4, 2016, at the Macon Medical Center.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, at Plains United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lauri Hartley and Pastor Stan Ballew officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 6, at the Hawg Pen, 112 S. M.L.  Hudson St. in Plains.
Born Oct. 23, 1960 in Albany, Ga., he was a son of Julian Foye Moncus and the late Betty Kirkland Bruce.
A member of Plains United Methodist Church, Mr. Moncus was a lieutenant with the Dawson Police Department. He was a member of the board of the Plains Historic Trust, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and a member of the Dawson Police Department Color Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Medlock Moncus of Plains; one daughter, Lindsay Joiner (Bryan) of Americus; two sons, J. Michael Moncus of Covington, Ky., and William Charles Moncus of Plains; one grandson, Dylan Lee Joiner of Americus; his father and stepmother, Julian Foye Moncus and Reba Moncus of Leesburg; one sister, Deborah Daughtry (Eric) of Leesburg; one stepbrother, Troy Allen (Barbara) of Albany; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Kirkland Bruce, and by his brother, Thomas Moncus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 1996 Ga. Highway 30 West, Americus GA 31719; or to the Americus Center for the Arts, Attn: TAP, 326 W. Forsyth St., Americus GA 31709.
