Incumbent coroner seeks reelection

AMERICUS — Incumbent Sumter County Coroner Greg E Hancock is seeking reelection in the May 24 primary election.
In making the announcement, he issued the following.
“I am seeking reelection as Coroner of Sumter County. I was elected to this positon and took office on Jan. 1, 2001, and have served this county for almost 16 years as coroner. I am married to Lisa Hancock, and we have two children, Greg Hancock II, and Nicki Aultman, and one grandson Greyson. I graduated from Southland Academy in 1982, and from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1992. I managed Rees Park Chapel Funeral Home from 1992 until 1996, when I opened Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel at 142 Southland Road, Americus. In 2011, I opened Pineridge Cremation Services, which is the only crematory in Sumter County, and in 2013, I bought Sunset Memorial Gardens from the City of Americus and took over all operations of the cemetery.
“We attend Central Baptist Church in Americus, and I am a member of The Americus Civitan Club (past president), Georgia Funeral Directors Association (District chairman two terms), National Funeral Directors Association, Georgia Coroners Association, M.B . Council Lodge 13, and Camp Sumter Sport Shooting Association.
“I have over 420 Hours of training in the operations of the coroner’s office and over 150 hours training in child fatalities. I continue to operate the coroner’s office with one of, if not the lowest budgets of any department in the Sumter County Government.
“As your coroner I will continue to be a good steward of your tax dollars and treat every family that I come in contact with the utmost respect and dignity. My record speaks for itself.”
