• Firefighters responded to 28 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Parker and Felder streets.
• Firefighters responded to vehicle fire on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University, 800 Wheatley St.
• Firefighters responded to Mayo and Elliott streets where they found a small rubbish fire behind a residence. They and the occupant extinguished it and they advise the occupant of the City’s no-burn policy. They later returned to the same location where the fire had rekindled. They advise occupant to put more water on the fire to cool all the hot spots.
• Firefighters responded to Lafayette Street to a report of a gas odor. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to East Jefferson Street to a possible structure fire. They found a pot had been left on the stove and had caught fire. The occupant had removed the pot from the structure. They ventilated light smoke from the structure.
• Firefighters responded to Smith Street to a report of power lines down. They found a cable/phone line down in a yard, and advised central to contact cable/phone company.

• Nyeshia J. Baisden, 21, of 203-E Murphy Mill Road, Americus is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault (Domestic Violence Act) and cruelty to children, and was jailed.
• Trendrick C. Bishop, 23, of 205 E. Lester St., Americus was arrested on a bench warrant, and is charged with entering auto, obstruction of law enforcement, and was jailed.
• Travis Cook, 28, of 114 Price St., Americus is charged with obstruction of law enforcement officer and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
• Quincy B. Daniels, 22, of 622 Winn St., Americus is charged with misdemeanor failure to appear in court for a finger printable charge, and was released on bond.
