Police officers, sheriff’s deputies apprehend two suspects following armed robbery

On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, around 12:01a.m., the Americus Police Department, along with deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, responded to an armed robbery call at 805 Adderton Street, the Dollar General Store.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they were advised two store personnel had been robbed at gun point by two black males, one wearing a red hoodie and one wearing a white hoodie. According to reports, one of the store employees was knocked down and brought into the store at gunpoint.
The perpetrators fled the scene, towards the Armory Drive area, on foot with an unspecified amount of cash.
Officers and deputies apprehended two suspects shortly thereafter in the Georgia Avenue and Lafayette Street area.
Arrested was Jonathan Wilkerson, age 26, and Christian White, age 16.
Both subjects were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and kidnapping.
Wilkerson was additionally charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Wilkerson is housed at the Sumter County Jail and White was transported to the Crisp County Youth Detention Center.
