Harvest of Hope receives gift from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
AMERICUS — Harvest of Hope Food Pantry has received $1,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents. Harvest of Hope Food Pantry will use the gift to add variety to the items that they currently are able to obtain from the area food bank.
“We are very thankful for this generous gift from Food Lion and for the tremendous support that we get from the local Americus Food Lion store. With a database of over 2,100 families in the Americus/Sumter County area, Harvest of Hope Food Pantry currently provides food for over 750 families each month. Harvest of Hope is an equal opportunity provider and serves families who qualify for food based on USDA financial guidelines,” said the Rev. Sonny Pinckard, executive director.
This gift from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation will be used to buy food items from the Americus Food Lion store that will add variety to the items normally distributed. Harvest of Hope’s mission statement is: “Responding to the call of Jesus Christ, the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry feeds the hungry, promotes physical and spiritual health, and brings people together in a community of love.” This gift from Food Lion will help to fulfill the mission of feeding the hungry and promoting physical health.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants.
