3 injured, 1 dead in Cordele fight

CORDELE — A joint investigation by the GBI Region 3 office, in Americus, and the Cordele Police Department into a death occurring at 510 W. 23rd Ave. in Cordele, is ongoing.
According to a press release from the GBI, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Monday, the GBI received a call from the Cordele Police Department in reference to a stabbing incident at the 23rd Avenue location where several individuals had been involved in a fight.
The victim was identified as Montavious Terrell Evans, age 27, formerly of Americus. Another individual, identified as Shakiria Appling, age 20, was also stabbed during the fight. Appling was transported the Crisp Regional Hospital where she is being treated. Mickey Wiggins, age 40, also sustained injuries from the fight and was transported to the Crisp Regional Hospital. Wiggins’ injuries were non-life threatening, the GBI said.
After conducting multiple interviews with witnesses, Clifford “C.J.” Brown, age 20, was developed as a suspect, and was taken into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault. The investigation continues.
