AMERICUS — Last Saturday, dozens of Wells Fargo volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help out the Americus community. It’s all part of Wells Fargo’s seventh annual Georgia Community Service Super Saturday, a statewide initiative where hundreds of team members and friends participate in 35 volunteer activities across 29 Georgia cities in a single day.
This volunteer effort, which takes place during National Homeownership Month focuses largely on providing housing for those in need. A total of $180,000 was donated to upgrade housing for 12 Georgia families, through the construction of new homes or repairing existing ones. The home construction and revitalization will be completed in partnership with local Habitat for Humanity organizations, who will receive $150,000 in total.
Wells Fargo team members and friends also partnerwith 13 additional nonprofit organizations to help meet the needs of local food banks, senior living homes and the Salvation Army.
In Americus, volunteers partnered with the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry to help sort food donations for distribution to local residents.
“I am so proud to be a part of our seventh Community Service Super Saturday this year because I know firsthand that our team members strive to create a positive, lasting impact in the communities that we live and work,” said Robert Horn, Wells Fargo area president. “Events like these remind us all that while our individual efforts may seem small, when we join together we can make a huge impact on our community.”
This year, the annual day of service was expanded to include metro Atlanta and nine additional nonprofit organizations, making this Wells Fargo’s first annual statewide corporate social responsibility initiative.
