Second shooting suspect arrested

AMERICUS — The second shooting suspect in an Aug. 22 incident on Oglethorpe Avenue has been arrested. Shantario Parnell Hardy, black male, age 19 of 1309 Douglas Circle, Americus was taken into custody Saturday night and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and obstruction of law enforcement officer. He was located at a residence at Parkview Apartments on Davenport Street, according to police reports. He was jailed.
Hakeem Deon Barthell, black male, age 21 of 702 Sunset Drive, Americus, who was shot in the incident, was arrested earlier in the week when he was released from the hospital. He was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and was jailed.
Police and EMS were, dispatched at 7:04 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 to the 1100 block of Oglethorpe Avenue in response to a report of a person who had been shot.
Officers found an 18-year-old black male, William Clinton Moore III, of Ridge Street, Americus, with two gunshot wounds to his body. Moore was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, then airlifted to the Macon Trauma Center for treatment.
While on the scene officers were notified of a second gunshot victim who had left the area. The second victim was located in the 700 block of Sunset Drive. He was identified as Hakeem Barthell and also had a gunshot wound to his body. He was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for treatment.
