AMERICUS — A rape was reported on the campus of South Georgia Technical College early Thursday.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office was alerted shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday.
Col. Eric Bryant, Sumter County Sheriff’s chief deputy, told the Times-Recorder Friday that the sheriff’s investigations division as well as forensic interviewers are looking into the case.
“The female knows the male,” Bryant said. “She went to where he was. As the investigation has unfolded, we’ve learned they are acquaintances. She says the act took place against her will.”
South Georgia Tech officials had no comment as of Friday afternoon.
