Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 20 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Lonnie Lane to a report of a possible fire. Upon arrival they found light smoke but no fire. They found a plastic fork on the bottom of the oven.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Forsyth Street.
• Firefighters went to Ridgeway Drive to install a new smoke detector.
• Firefighters went to Holly Drive to install new smoke detectors.
• Firefighters responded to South Lee Street to a report of a possible gas leak. Investigation showed no gas odor inside the residence. The gas department was notified.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Crawford Street and Upper River Road.
• Firefighters stood by for a football game at Americus-Sumter High School, 805 Harrold Ave.
• Firefighters responded to East Church Street to a report of a possible structure fire. The occupant  aid she smelled a smoke odor but no odor or hazards were present.
• Firefighters responded to Price Street to a report of a gas odor. The occupant told them they hd been painting in the residence earlier and she has left the brushes in the sink. The turned the gas off and advised central to contact the gas department.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Hickory and Cypress drives.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Rose Avenue. They found no hazards.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Patterson Street.
