Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to nine calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters installed three smoke detectors on Daniel Street.
• Firefighters responded to Grantham Street to a report of a vehicle fire. The vehicle as estimated to be a 90 to 100 percent loss and the fire’s origin was in the dashboard/radio area.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Sharon Circle. There was no fire but the alarm was activated by steam from a shower.

• Cornelius M. Barker, 26, of 114 Garden Lane, Americus is charged with battery (Domestic Violence Act), misdemeanor possession of marijuana, obstruction of law enforcement officer, and interference with government property.
• Thelma M.  Brantley, 64, of 202 Tom Hall Circle, Americus is charged with noise violation.
• Lakendrick J. Davis, 31, of 905 Anthony Drive, Apt. 21B, Americus is charged with violating child support order, and was jailed.
• Mikayla Glover, 18, of 326 Academy St., Americus is charged with battery (Domestic Violence Act).
• Euveka S. Haugabook, 37, of 211 Poplar St., Americus is charged with criminal trespass.
• Derrick A. Henry, 41, of Plains is charged with aggravated assault, and was jailed.
• Folivia D. Ingram, 37, of 124-A Ashby St., Americus is charged with noise violation.
• A juvenile was charged with unruliness on Town Creek Circle.
• A juvenile was charged with misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property on Earl Street.

• Nikki G. Smith, 25, of 216 Columbia Ave., Americus is charged with driving without license on person, failure to yield at stop sign, and DUI.

• Firefighters stood by for medical assistance and public safety education during the Plains Peanut Festival.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at U.S. Highway 19 South and Hillcrest Grange Drive.
• Firefighters responded to Flintside Drive to a report of smoke in the area. They found an authorized burn.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Basket Factory Road. It was a false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Ga. Highway 27 East and Southland Road.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Della Glass Road. They found a pickup truck with fire in the passenger compartment, which they extinguished.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at U.S. Highway 280 West and Howard Johnson Road.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at U.S. Highway 19 South and Ga. Highway 308.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on S. M.L. Hudson Street in Plains.
