• Firefighters responded to 14 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Hudson and East Lamar streets to a blown transformer. They were advised by Sumter County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Col. Eric Bryant that a bird flew into the power lines and caused a momentary loss of power. The dead bird was found at the vase. There were no hazards.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on North Lee Street. It was determined that a child pulled the alarm.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a power line down on Pineview Drive. It was a cable line.
• Firefighters responded to Pineview Drive to a report of a tree on a house. No one was in the house at the time.

• Derrick T. Brooks, 20, of 119 Highland Drive, Americus is charged with aggravated assault, possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and criminal attempt to commit a felony, and was jailed.
