Next-generation of scientists show their stuff at SCMS’ Annual Science Fair

AMERICUS — Sumter County Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade students participated in the annual Science Fair in early March. Students demonstrated to the judges how they applied the scientific method to quench their curiosity or to discover something new. There were a wide range of projects and students were excited to be a part of this event.
Eighth-grade winners include, first place – Passion Thomas, second place – Johnovan Lundy, and third place – Nicolas Williams.
Seventh-grade winners include, first place – Madison Smith, second place – Ian Roberts, and Travis Mansfield and Jeremy Bembry tied for the third-place winners.
First place winners were also awarded $100 dollars in cash by Sharon Marcus, principal at SCMS.
Winners were invited to attend the Regional Science Fair hosted by Chattahoochee-Flint RESA and GYSTC on May 2-3 on the campus of South Georgia Technical College in Americus.
