From STAFF REPORTS

The 5K students at Southland Academy were recently busy learning about the Mexican celebration, Cinco de Mayo. The students made music with colorful maracas that they made out of paper plates, streamers and rice. They did journal writings about this celebration and drew pictures to describe their writings. They learned about the history of this celebration through books and a video on the website Brain Pop Jr.
Students took a field trip to The 1800 Mexican Restaurant where they were treated to a special and delicious lunch of authentic Mexican cuisine. The owners and staff at The 1800 were gracious hosts to the 5K students and teachers. Their hospitality and support of Southland Academy is greatly appreciated.
