Americus beauty heads to Miss Ga. Pageant today

AMERICUS — Caroline Carroll, daughter of John and Beth Carroll all of Americus, and reigning Miss Troup County, is in Columbus this week competing in the 73rd annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant that begins Tuesday and continues nightly through Saturday at the River Center with the crowning of the 2017 Miss Georgia, a part of the Miss America Scholarship Organization, the world’s largest scholarship program for women and one of the nation’s leading achievement programs.
Carroll leaves today for the busy week that includes an interview with the panel of judges on Monday; talent performance on Tuesday, presenting a ballet en pointe dance; Wednesday is the on-stage question; Thursday is lifestyle and swimsuit competition. Her platform is the American Red Cross: Volunteering for Life, promoting the importance of blood donations and she also speaks to varied groups on being Red Cross Ready.
Carroll is a rising senior at the University of Georgia, studying toward a degree in political science and international affairs. She plans to attend law school. She is also a member of UGA’s popular Georgette Dance team performing at various sporting events.
