The Kiwanis Club of Americus recently honored four of its members by designating them ‘Distinguished Members.’ This new designation recognizes members for exceptional service to Kiwanis and the community over a significant period of time. Each member that received this honor has served for 50 or more consecutive years as well as served as the president of the Kiwanis Club of Americus. The four newly-designated Distinguished Members are Jimmie Buchanan who has been a member for 61 years and served as president in 1972-73, and Bill Harris has served for 56 years and served as president in 1975-76. Jeryl Pinnell has been a member for 51 years, serving as president from 1989-90 and David Ewing, who recently hit the 50-year milestone, served for 50 years of continuous membership and followed Pinnell as president from 1990-91. The Kiwanis Club of Americus is one of the oldest Kiwanis Club’s in Kiwanis International and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020, serving the children of Georgia and the World.
