AMERICUS — The Methodist Home for Children and Youth has achieved certification through The Sanctuary Institute®. The Methodist Home is the first organization in Georgia to achieve Sanctuary certification.
The Sanctuary Institute® provides training and consultation services to organizations that work with vulnerable adults, children and families. This certification symbolizes an organization’s commitment to providing a higher level of care, a trauma-sensitive environment for the people they serve and a better work environment for employees. Their aim is to help an agency’s leaders reclaim a culture of hope and innovation. The Sanctuary Institute® is a division of ANDRUS, a non-profit located in Yonkers, N.Y., and a national leader in training, research, and advocacy to strengthen children and families.
Bishop Lawson Bryan, the Bishop of The United Methodist Church’s South Georgia Conference, said of The Methodist Home’s recent accomplishment, “Congratulations to all involved. This is historic and I am grateful for you.”
