Local GSU students recognized for academic excellence

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University (GSU) recently recognized more than 1,350 students for excellence in academics on the Spring 2017 semester President’s List. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
Students from the local area are Ashlyn Avera of Americus, Julie Bryce of Americus, Carl Forrester of Marshallville, Kaleigh Hernandez of Americus, Trang Nguyen of Montezuma, and Kristen Wright of Americus.
GSU also recently recognized more than 2,600 students for excellence in academics on the Spring 2017 semester Dean’s List. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
Local students recognized on the GSU Dean’s list are Le’daysha Harvey of Americus, Mallory Hernandez of Americus, Lawson Humphries of Plains, Katherine Kennon of Americus, Katelyn Law of Americus, Kyle Law of Ellaville, Rachel Minick of Preston, Taylor Moore of Preston, Bridges Roland of Americus, William Shattles of Americus, Jake Smith of Smithville, William Souter of Montezuma, Brandon Thomaston of Ellaville, and Dylana Tyson of Americus.
