AMERICUS — The board of directors for the One Sumter Economic Development Foundation Inc. celebrates a year of accomplishments and partnerships, as it hosts its second annual One Sumter Donor Breakfast at 7 a.m. Aug. 22 at the Rees Park Economic Development Center. Page Estes, president of the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce, is keynote speaker, sharing with attendees the message of the importance and impact of the THINC College & Career Academy in LaGrange to the business community and future workforce of Troup County.  As One Sumter has focused much of its efforts over the last year on workforce development and education, the board of directors is excited to host Estes, a distinguished leader in those efforts in her own community.

The donor event is designed to update One Sumter contributors and community partners regarding the implementation of the Business Action Plan, which focuses on economic development, workforce development, marketing and communications, and transportation. With special announcements and recognitions to be made Tuesday morning, the annual Donor Breakfast is a time to update its donors and stakeholders of the accomplishments collectively achieved over the last year.

One Sumter Executive Director Mary Beth Bass looks forward to sharing the story of One Sumter’s journey over the last year at Tuesday’s breakfast.

“We have done so much in the last 12 months that it’s really difficult to believe when you put it all into a collective context,” Bass says. “We are so grateful to have had the continued support of the donors as we have made real progress on their priorities established in our Business Action Plan. Our stakeholders in the college and career academy efforts, the launch of the branding campaign, and the continued progress on the expansion of broadband in Sumter County, have given us much to celebrate in 2017. We are excited to share the incredible work of One Sumter and our partners at the Donor Breakfast next week.”

One Sumter, a partnership between the Sumter County Payroll Development Authority and the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, is dedicated to enhancing and supporting the community’s economic development efforts. One Sumter is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
