Smarr-Smith blood drive coming up
AMERICUS — A Community Blood Drive, sponsored by Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, will be held from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at First Baptist Church fellowship hall, 221 S. Lee St. All presenting donors receive a free t-shirt while supplies last.
The blood drive is held in memory of Jody Smith and Nick Smarr, best friends, roommates, classmates, and fellow law enforcement officers, who were both killed in the line of duty in December 2017. Eligible donors are encouraged to give a pint of blood in remembrance of their sacrifices so that others may live.
