AMERICUS — The Smarr Smith Foundation has recently authorized the purchase of eight Axon Tasers from Axon Enterprises Inc. and two ballistic shields from Chief Supply. This purchase was made available due to the Paint the Town Blue event, which occurred on June 17, and other fundraising efforts held by the Foundation.
The Axon Tasers and Ballistic Shields were requested by Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith via Sgt. Jay Lewis and voted upon by the board of the Smarr-Smith Foundation.
The Smarr-Smith Foundation is proud to be able to assist local law enforcement with some of their needs and hope to continue this tradition in the future through purchases, scholarship and other forms of support.
