AMERICUS — Ms. Mary Ethel Davis, 93, of Americus, Ga., passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Faith Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Sammy Curry. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus. Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish to eat and fellowship with the family immediately following the interment at Faith Baptist Church. The family will also receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at Aldridge Funeral Services chapel.

Ms. Davis was born on April 8, 1924, in Macon County, Ga., to the late William Cromer and the late Cannila Cromer. She was retired from the Manhattan Shirt Co. where she worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include a step daughter, Charlene Davis Lee of Americus; step son, James L. Davis of Americus; sisters, Clemmie M. Durgess of Warner Robins, Lois P. Vanzant of Americus; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Twenty-two nieces and nephews also survive.

Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Philmon; second husband, Vernon Otis Davis; father William Cromer; mother Cannila Cromer; daughter, Anne Davis; sons, Marvin P. Philmon and William G. (Billy) Philmon; sisters, Lozia Nicholes, Hazel Hartp; brothers, William Cromer, Marvin P. Cromer, Nolen P. Cromer, Johnny W. Cromer, Oliver W. Cromer; and one grandson, James Philmon.
