Americus-Sumter Tennis struggles against Northside-Columbus

AMERICUS – Both the Americus-Sumter boys and girl’s teams fell to Northside-Columbus on Tuesday, March 13, at Americus-Sumter High School.

The girls team lost 5-0 and the boys team lost 4-1. In girl’s action, both Hannah Martinez and Jovan Sykes lost their matches. Martinez lost in straight sets 0-6, 1-6, and Sykes was swept in straight sets 0-6, 0-6. Kimberly Worthy lost her match in straight sets 1-6, 0-6.

In girls’ doubles action, Kirby Perry and Israel Broomfield lost their doubles match 0-6, 0-6. The doubles match featuring the Lady Panthers’ Taylor Garcia and Nallely Lepiz was a hard-fought match, but they fell in straight sets 2-6, 4-6.

In boys’ action, the ASH number one singles player, Aaron John-Ndaayezwi, lost a hard-fought match. He lost the first set 2-6 but won the second set 6-2. However, Ndaayezwi lost the tie breaker 7-10.

Braxton Cross lost his match 1-6, 6-7, and Xavier White fell to his Northside opponent 1-6, 3-6.

In boys’ doubles action, Keldrick Flemming and Chandler Reddix defeated their Northside opponents 6-2, 6-0. They were the only ASH team to score a win. However, Aaron Lewis and Chris Wooden lost their doubles match 2-6, 2-6.
