AMERICUS — The Red, White and Blues is coming to town on the first Saturday in June.
The new event, which will be held from 5-9 p.m. June 2 at the new Jackson Street train depot, will be the “unofficial unveiling” of the depot funded by SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) revenues.
Patrick Kay, director of the Downtown Development Authority and Americus Main Street, told the Times-Recorder what will be happening that day. He said a couple of local barbecue vendors will be selling their barbecue. There will also be other foods available. Grammy-nominated musician Cedric Burnside along with a group called Hot Sauce Opera will be performing blues-style music.
Pretoria Fields, a new brewery based in Albany, will be the exclusive provider of alcoholic beverages at the event. The other two event sponsors are the Americus Times-Recorder and PharmaCentra.
Tickets are priced at $15 early bird, $20 advanced, and $25 at the gate and will include two drinks tickets (alcohol or non). Premium tickets are also available at $50 each which include a food voucher, unlimited drink tickets, and access to sponsor tent.
