Interim city manager finalist announced

AMERICUS — The Americus Mayor and City Council has decided on the finalist for the position of interim city manager — John C. Klimm.
Klimm has served as city manager for the City of Aiken,South Carolina, for the past three years. He holds a bachelor of Arts in political science in economics from Boston College as well as a master’s in public administration from Bridgewater State University.
The City Council will consider whether to appoint Klimm as interim city manager at a called meeting at 5 p.m. June 1 at the Russell Thomas Jr. Public Safety Building. The meeting will be open to the public.
The Mayor and Council have called a meeting for 5 p.m. May 31 for the purpose of conducting a public hearing requested by former City Manager, Steve Kennedy at the Russell Thomas, Jr. Public Safety Building – Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the public. The city first reported this as an appeal hearing, but later changed it to a public hearing.
