Ken Gustafson, Sports Editor of the Americus Times-Recorder, inadvertently included some inaccurate information in a story entitled: “Law Enforcement remembered at memorial ceremony.” The article was published in the Wednesday, May 16 edition.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 15, as part of National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day here in Americus. In the article, it was stated that the Rev. Larry B. Sims, pastor of the Union Tabernacle Baptist Church, gave the opening prayer when, in fact, he did not. Rev. Sims was unable to be present at the proceedings. In his place, the Rev. David Kitchens gave the opening prayer at the ceremony.
