GSW Men’s Soccer schedule full of home night matches in 2018

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University Head Men’s Soccer Coach Warren Russ recently released the 2018 schedule. The schedule features eight home matches and eight away matches.

The Hurricanes start the season with two games on the road, followed by a historic home match, which will be played under the lights. That home opener will be played on Wednesday, September 5 against Brewton-Parker at 7 p.m. This will be the first home match under the lights in school history. GSW will play seven of its eight home games at 5 p.m. or later this Fall.

The Hurricanes will be playing four teams they’ve never played before in 2018: Warner University (Thursday, August 30), Webber International (Saturday, September 1), and Pensacola Christian (Saturday, September 8) along with a home match against Shaw University on Wednesday, October 3.

The longest home stand of the season runs from Wednesday, September 12 to the following Wednesday, September 19. During this period, GSW will play matches against Middle Georgia State (Wednesday, September 12), Concordia College (Saturday, September 15) and Spring Hill College on Wednesday, September 19.

After this home stand, the Hurricanes embark on a three-match road trip, beginning with Peach Belt Conference opponent Clayton State on Saturday, September 22. The Hurricanes then take on Point University in West Point, GA on Wednesday, September 26, followed by a road game against Young Harris on Saturday, September 29.

After the three-game road trip, the Hurricanes host Shaw University on Wednesday, October 3, at 3:30 p.m. GSW then hosts the University of South Carolina Aiken on Saturday, October 6, at 7 p.m. They then hit the road to take on Francis Marion on Saturday, October 13. After a home match against Lander University on Saturday, October 20, the Hurricanes close out the regular season at Flagler College on Wednesday, October 24, then play their final game of the regular season at home against North Georgia on Saturday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m.
