AMERICUS — On Friday, Aug. 10, between 2 and 4 p.m. the Americus Police Department conducted undercover alcohol compliance checks on all 23 convenience stores licensed to sell package alcohol in the City of Americus. Out of the 23 stores checked, seven clerks sold alcohol to the underage buyer and were cited with violation of the Americus Municipal Code, section 6-89 Sale of Alcohol to Underage Persons.
The stores cited for violations were:
Gas-N-Go, 202 U.S. Highway 280 West
Sam’s, 1101 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Discount Tobacco, 999 Southerfield Road
Corner Shop, 704 N. Lee St.
Lee Street Food Mart, 1516 S. Lee St. Spectrum, 311 Tripp St.
Pure #2, 1702 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
