Wanted person in custody

AMERICUS — A person wanted in connection with a burglary has been taken into custody by the Americus Police Department.
At 9:35 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, Americus police officers were dispatched to Woodland Avenue, Americus in reference to a burglary in progress. The suspect had left the scene when officers arrived. At approximately 5 p.m. on the same date, officers were dispatched to Parker Street in Americus in reference to a domestic dispute which shots were fired. A foot pursuit with the suspect ensued, but the suspect was able to avoid capture.
Evidence and interviews allowed investigators to link both incidents and warrants were issued.
Keyund Mitchell, 23, of 106 Garden Lane, Americus has been taken into custody. Mitchell was seen at a local business by a concerned citizen who had seen his photo on the news. He was taken into custody without incident.
Mitchell is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of burglary, one count of criminal trespass, one count of obstructing officers, one count of reckless conduct and one count of cruelty to children.
