Justin Manning represents Schley, state 4-H
Justin Manning recently qualified not only to represent Schley County 4-H but to also represent Georgia 4-H at the 2018 Southern Regional Horse Championship held Aug. 1-5 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agri-Center in Perry.
His hard work and dedication to equine program is evident in being selected to represent the team from Georgia 4-H at this prestigious horse show.
Justin placed third in Junior Stock Seat Division riding Zippin. He competed against the top riders from 13 states in the Southeast.
Congratulations, Justin, on your accomplishment. We are all proud of you.
Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club announces Yard of the Month
The Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club has honored Leo and Leonardo Wiggins with the Yard of the Month for August 2018.
Congratulations go to this family for their yard being so pretty. Turn left on Ebenezer Street and it’s the first house on the left behind the Car Garage, and you will see the Rainbow Garden Club Sign in the front yard.
Historical society’s auction coming soon
The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society is finalizing plans for its Auction on Sept. 15 be at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion.
Starting at 4 p.m. there will be a Car Show in front of the Legion on the grass. If you have a car to enter, call Jason Holloway at 938-7538.
“Lonesome Road Bluegrass Christian Band” will play from 5-7 p.m.
The barbecue supper will be served starting at 5 p.m.
A Bake Sale begins around 6 p.m.
The Auction begin at 7 p.m. with John Greene as auctioneer.
All three raffles will be drawn during the auction.
You can see the quilt to be raffled in the window of Gill’s Drug Store and you may purchase tickets there, as well as the 50/50 raffle tickets. You may also purchase tickets at the Ellaville
Floral Shop for these two raffles. A Ruger K10-22 Semi – Automatic Rifle will be raffled and tickets are available at The Pizza Place which also sells quilt and 50/50 raffle tickets. You may also purchase a rifle ticket from Central Automotive, as well as some of the male members are selling the rifle tickets.

Ellaville Methodist Church having revival
Ellaville United Methodist Church hosts its Fall Revival starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 and continuing through Wednesday, Sept. 12. A meal will be served each night at 6 p.m.
Pastors for the revival include Sunday, the Rev Wayne Morrow Jr., pastor of Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church; Monday, the Rev. Brent Maddocks, associate pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church (Monday night is Methodist Men and Ladies Night and a covered dish supper will be held at 6 p.m.); Tuesday, the Rev. Joel Smith, pastor of Ellaville Baptist Church; and Wednesday, Youth Night, pizza supper at 6 p.m. followed by the Rev. Johnny Updike, youth minister of Americus First Methodist Church and itsYouth Praise Band.
