City announces finalist for city manager job

AMERICUS — The Americus Mayor and City Council have narrowed the field of candidates for the position of city manager to Glenn A. Irby. Irby has over 20 years of experience in government administration and resides in Umatilla, Florida.
Irby currently serves as the city administrator of the City of Apopka, Florida. He holds a master of public administration from Troy State University, a bachelor of arts in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Florida and an associate’s of arts from Lake Sumter Community College.
The City Council will consider whether to appoint Glenn A. Irby as the City Manager at a called meeting which is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Russell Thomas Jr. Public Safety Building. The meeting will be open to the public.
