GSW Men’s Soccer Team earns national academic award

AMERICUS – It has been a struggle for the 2018 Georgia Southwestern State University men’s soccer team on the field this season. However, the Hurricanes are turning in a top-class performance in the classroom.
The team has earned the United States Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 school year. The award honors intercollegiate athletic programs across the country who produce exemplary academic performances.
GSW was one of four Peach Belt Conference schools among the 293 men’s collegiate programs honored for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.
Under the guidance of head coach Warren Russ, the Hurricanes finished with a GPA of 3.11. Georgia Southwestern State previously earned the award in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
